The PanHandlers

Lets introduce the PanHandlers, A group of enthusiastic aircraft engineers who have been providing aircraft marshalling and allied support services to aviation events around Britain for over 25 years. Many of the team are serving or have served as engineers in the Royal Air Force.

So what can the PanHandlers offer you ?

Experience - We have been responsible for flightlines as diverse as:

    • Great Warbirds at West Malling and Wroughton.
    • D H Moth Rallies at Woburn.
    • Classic Airliner Show at Lydd.
    • The 2002 through to 2010+ Kemble Air Days(now Cotswold Air Show).
    • G-VFWE at Thruxton, Wroughton, Abingdon and Kemble.
    • Vintage Aircraft park at RAF Benson & RAF Lyneham Families Days and RNAS Yeovilton Airshows.
    • Events at Middle Wallop, Henstridge & Campbletown Air Display.
    • The “Germin” Yak Fly-in.
    • D Day Airshow Dunkeswell.
    • World Helicopter Championships at Wroughton.
    • In addition some of our members annually spend up to 10 days in July working as key members of the Engineering Team at RIAT Fairford.

Professionalism – The PanHandlers offers you a team of dedicated and professional individuals whose sole aim is to help run a safe, attractive and profitable aviation event. Many have received formal aircraft engineering training from the RAF or BAA, and all have a great many years of practical aviation experience.

Reliability - Aviation events can be risky affairs, what with the vagaries of the great British weather and the different and often un-proven organisations providing support to the organiser. We can be relied upon to take care of all aspects of aircraft ground handling, leaving you free to concentrate on other areas of your event.

Safety Awareness - Flightlines are no place for the untrained or inexperienced. All our members have a healthy respect for aircraft. Safety is always the first consideration in everything we do on the flightline.

As our commitment to you – The PanHandlers will provide you with the following:

    • A team of experienced aircraft handlers.
    • A nominated team leader.
    • All team members in distinctive 'Hi-Viz'. waistcoats and equipped with marshalling aids.

What we expect from the event organiser -

    • A nominated point of contact.
    • Where possible a number (dependant on the size of the team) of radios on the Air Traffic Control net.
    • A dedicated briefing for the team from your point of contact, the local airfield ATC and Emergency services. This briefing is to be carried out before the first aircraft arrives.
    • Travel expenses, food and if required, accommodation.
