The fourth Marrakech Air Show was held in Morocco April 23-26. Located at Marrakech's Menara Airport the show is organised by IEC under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. Started in 2008 the biennial Marrakech Airshow has grown in strength with 56 participating countries, 150 exhibitors, 110,000 square metres of exhibition space and approximately 70 aircraft on static display.
The show opens it's doors to trade visitors for the first three days and on the final day (Saturday) the general public are allowed in when a longer flying display takes place.
The Royal Moroccan Air Force exhibited their fighters, training and transport aircraft on the ground and in spectacular flypasts in the flying display. including Cap10, T6 Texan II, Mirage F1, F5E Tiger II, Alpha Jet, C130, CN235, C27J, Gazelle, Puma, UH1,
The Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie exhibited some of their helocopters and firefighting Ayres Thrush aircraft.
On show from the Royal Moroccan Navy was a Eurocopter AS565 Panther Search and Rescure helocopter.
Agusta Westland showed off an immaculate Italian Air Force AW139M. The AW139M has all the outstanding features of its AW139 commercial counterpart together with a wide range of military equipment options. These options include dedicated equipment such as armoured cockpit seats to improve crew protection, ballistic-tolerant self-sealing fuel tanks, heavy duty landing gear, high-definition FLIR, defensive aids suite, crashworthy troop seats, mission specific avionics and tactical communications, an external weapon stores system. The AW139M also features a low thermal and acoustic signature.
The show this year hosted for the first time the Business Aviation Expo in partnership with the AfBAA (African Business Aviation Association).
